Often, yes. For a straightforward replacement, choose a pull with the same center-to-center screw spacing as the one coming off. Matching the handle’s total length is not enough. Liberty’s cabinet-hardware guide explains the replacement-hole-spacing check.
Measure before you shop
Remove one handle and measure from the center of one screw hole to the center of the other. Measure the holes, not the ends of the handle. Check doors and drawers separately rather than assuming the whole kitchen uses one size.
Write down the measurement in millimeters as well as inches:
- 3 inches is 76.2 mm. Hardware catalogs often call this 76 mm.
- 96 mm is about 3.78 inches, commonly labeled 3-3/4 inches in cabinet-hardware listings.
- A fixed 96 mm pull will not replace a fixed 3-inch pull using the same two holes. The mounting centers differ by almost 20 mm.
Do not round an uncertain measurement to the nearest listing. Measure again before ordering a kitchen’s worth.
One hole or two?
A typical knob uses one mounting hole; a typical pull uses two. Replacing a knob with another compatible knob may reuse that hole. Changing from a knob to a two-hole pull usually means drilling, and changing from a pull to one knob can leave an unused hole visible.

Two same-style options, chosen by your holes
These are different sizes of the same Amerock Blackrock satin-nickel pull. Neither is the upgrade over the other. Your existing hole spacing decides which one to consider. This is a specification-based comparison, not a hands-on test.

If your existing centers are 3 inches: Amerock Blackrock BP55275G10
Consider this satin-nickel zinc pull only for an existing 3-inch mounting pattern. Amerock lists it as 3-inch (76 mm) center-to-center. Skip it if your holes measure 96 mm.
If your existing centers are 96 mm: Amerock Blackrock BP55276G10
Consider this satin-nickel zinc pull only for an existing 96 mm mounting pattern. Amerock lists it as 3-3/4-inch (96 mm) center-to-center. Skip it if your holes measure 3 inches.

Before ordering the full set
Try one first. Matching centers is the first check, not the only check: compare the mounting bases with any old marks, check hand clearance and nearby doors, and confirm that the screws fit your door or drawer thickness. Amerock notes that doors and drawer fronts can require different screw lengths.
A decorative backplate can cover old holes or marks. By itself, it does not change the distance between a fixed pull’s mounting posts. A different hole pattern may still require new holes. Adjustable pulls are a separate category; their stated adjustment range must include your measurement. Liberty’s Adjusta-Pull overview shows a genuinely adjustable mounting design.
The no-buy option
If the current handles work and you still like the finish, keep them. Reusing sound hardware avoids the fit problem entirely. For cleaning, follow your own hardware maker’s care instructions.
The decision: match the existing centers for the simplest swap. If your measurement does not match either option above, buy neither.
